 2006 Lake Event Details


  • Upper Straits Lake 2006 Fireworks Sunday, July 2nd 10:00pm   (Rain date July 8th)
    • Look for the notice in your mailbox soon for further details
    • Again this year Joe LaVerdi, organizer, is offering special shells for special occasions.
    • If you wish to order your special shell, you can contact Joe directly at 517- 540-1982.
    • Joe is requesting general contributions be sent to him before June 15th to:

  • CRUISE NIGHT BOAT PARADE - JULY 8, 2006, 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, JUDGING AT 9:30pm
    • DECORATE YOUR BOAT/PONTOON WITH LIGHTS, BALLOONS, WHATEVER
      JOIN THE BOAT PARADE AT 8:00PM
      FORM A TRAIN AND FOLLOW ONE ANOTHER AROUND THE LAKE
    • PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR BEST DECORATED WITH CONSIDERATION FOR IMAGINATION, CREATIVITY AND THEME
    • JUDGING WILL TAKE PLACE APPROX 9:30PM SO LIGHTED BOATS WILL BE “ABLE TO DISPLAY THEIR LIGHTS”
    • JUDGING BOAT WILL BE INDENTIFIED WITH A SIGN SO THAT ALL BOATS WILL BE ABLE TO PASS IN FRONT

  • 7th Annual Lobster Roast is currently scheduled:  July 15, 2006 at Bayside Beach
    • ARRIVAL 6:00 pm
    • BUFFET DINNER 6:30 pm 7:30 pm
    • DANCING MUSIC BY REWIND BAND 8:30 pm 12:30 am
    • MENU INCLUDES
      • A choice of either Lobster Dinner or Strip Steak Dinner, or BBQ Ribs Dinner
        Each dinner includes: Mussels, Little Neck Clams, Corn on the Cob, Coleslaw,
        Red Skin Potatoes, Pasta Salad, and Rolls
        DONATION PER PERSON
        $50 Lobster Dinner, $45 Strip Steak Dinner, or $40 BBQ Ribs Dinner
        PAYABLE IN ADVANCE TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING

    • DINING TIPS
      For your convenience bring your own specialized Lobster utensils i.e. Lobster tools, large size plates or trays, steak knives, extra napkins. Paper plates & plastic utensils will be provided by caterer. Also, caterer will crack your Lobster upon request.
    • IF YOU ARRIVE BY BOAT
      • Head to west end of the lake. Dock your boat off the pier as directed by harbormaster
    • IF YOU ARRIVE BY CAR
      • Take Borland north off Pontiac Trail or Welland south off Green Lake. Park in the south
        Lot off of Borland
    • EAT ON YOUR OWN BOAT, UNDER THE TENT OR ON PICNIC TABLES
      NOTE: EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN OR SHINE

     

     

  • Music on the Lake -  2006 Schedule
    • All residents and guests are welcome to listen to a great variety of music performed by talented local musicians. 

    • As in the past, all four dates are on Friday, all four are 6:30 - 10:30 P.M. 

      • The first two hours are country, blue grass and folk music. 

      • The second two hours are classic rock. 

    • All parties are picnic style, all sites request No Glass

    • Every participant is a 100 % volunteer: the musicians, electronic set up, site prep, clean up, and lighting.  Thank you volunteers!

  • RC Bankers Sandy Beach Association is sponsoring both the Kids Fishing Contest and the Chili Cook Off. 
    • The Upper Straits Clean Lake Association (USCLA) will promote the activities and provide funding for prizes. 
    • All proceeds from the events will be given to the Upper Straits Clean Lake Association.

2005 Events

  • Kids Fishing Contest - Held - June 25, 2005 8:00 AM to 12 Noon at RC Bankers Island Park, please arrive by boat only

     

  • Weed Harvesting - Completed in July 2005.  Contributions for weed harvesting were down for this year.  Please send in your donation to assist in building our weed harvesting fund, to ensure continued operation of this vital service.
